(Part 1)
(Part 2)
'Oh Disdi Kulli Yaar Di'
This is a recording by Fateh Ali Khan, Mubarak Ali Khan & Party, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Father & Uncle probably from the 1950's.
You can listen to the Qawwali performance in two parts above.
(If anyone can supply any more information please leave a comment.)

Thanks for those. I've never heard anything of that vintage before. Not great quality, but good for historic perspective.

I think I read somewhere that this is the only recording of Nusrat's father, but I am not sure so if anyone knows...re that blog you mentioned, check the comments of that Paris gig and believe me a treasure trove awaits you.
ReplyDeleteHerrB and myself go way back !

That's pretty funny. You were probably thinking, "Tell me something I don't know".
ReplyDeleteI was listening to the Paris concert last night, and was about to drop the Faiz ali Faiz link here but you're way ahead of me. Treasure trove, indeed.
Where can I find this "Lossless Legs" you mentioned?
...found Lossless Legs
ReplyDeleteI will always be ahead of you purely by virtue of where I am in the world ie Melbourne/Australia!

PS: Just google Nusrat's full name and there are tons of other links! Faiz Ali Faiz is good but NOT in Nusrat's league, I have mentioned this before at blog but I was lucky enough to catch him when he came out here for WOMADELAIDE in 93 I think, played twice and I swear when he opened his mouth - angels came out of it!
