Fifty one years ago...

...now that's a double bill

Documentary on 'Dr. Gonzo' captures Oscar Zeta Acosta's wild ride

STORY
So I only just found out about this programme that was shown in the US four years ago. I remember reading Acosta's book a LONG time ago (late seventies I'm guessing) and tho did find out more about the man and his work and disappearance, every time I went looking for a second hand copy of 'The Autobiography Of A Brown Buffalo' the prices were higher each time...

Skintologists - Db 105

Released March 3 2021
Skintologists are Fritz Catlin from 23 Skidoo, Last Few Days & Laibach and Mike Joseph, bassist and co founder of Welfare Heroine with the late Dele Fadele

A FB post from Fritz caught my eye with part of the periodic table pictured and the comment "Who thought Db 105 was a listening volume suggestion?"
Got to say very clever and made me delve into this particular element more..."an artificially produced radioactive transuranium element in Group Vb of the periodic table, atomic number 105"...  sorry. You can induge yourself here if you so desire. Now I have to come clean and say I actually have an O Level in chemistry. God alone knows how as the only things I remember now are test tube, bunsen burner, the view out of my class window and the size of my teacher's tits. (Let me just say that it's the little things that stay with you)
Oh and I also found this from 2009...

Got to make room for more vinyl

Russell actually called him the 'Chookie Embra'. It was NeilK who supplied the post title. A pun I suspect he may have had up his sleeve for a while

David Carson: The Rules of Graphic Design

David Carson posted that book cover on his Instagram feed yesterday. As it says in the blurb to the video above (posted in 2012)
With a new book on the horizon (although not yet finished as he explains during the seminar), David Carson held two seminars in London and Zurich and provided a great evening of entertainment and insight into his work
Hopefully it will be a case of soon come...

Andrew Weatherall guest programs RAGE (1 March 2008)

A lot of love has been put into this recreation of The Guvnor hosting ABC Australia's RAGE show back in 2008 by a couple of guys at The Flightpath Estate and they posted it today on what would have been Andrew's 58th birthday
Staying here in Australia this is the unedited video of a conversation between Andrew and Ben Marshall (Sydney Opera House’s Head of Contemporary Music) Weatherall is in full raconteur mode, talking about the ritual of clubbing, the joy of music discovery and the importance of dressing for the occasion

Daphne Camf R.I.P.

Sad news for the Melbourne music community It was Black Cab main man Andrew Coates that introduced me to Daphne when she sang with Black Cab at the Espy quite a number of years ago. Again it was as they were playing around with versions of songs that would be featured on their Games of the XXI Olympiad album. I have it in my head that she sang on a long version of Supermädchen. I'm pretty certain I recorded that show but the audio will be sadly on a PC that still needs to be got up and running

Nowadays Live And Direct 002 - Underground Resistance

No introductions necessary for installment number two in our series of recordings from the booth. Enclosed is just under three hours of hard music from two members of UR that we were lucky enough to have come through at the end of March 2020. The recording is split into two parts. The high-octane, acidic, psycho stuff in this section comes courtesy of Dex Nomadico, who played during the first half of the party. And the raw, thumping, soulful sounds in the other section are taken from the last hour or so of Mark Flash's set – just as daylight broke through. Big respect and praise due to the whole UR family for letting us air these out and to all the dancers who gave this one their energy
