Gregory/ The Chaser is Australian. That was filmed about 3 years ago. It's funny! Obama really IS your bogeyman isn't he. You Americans aren't in general very 'wordly', ironic considering...do you know there is a restaraunt at the top of a mountain in Austria that features a mural of kangaroos. as the owner explained "It is what the Americans expect!" Regards/ PS Knew you would comment on this...
the 'bogeyman" isn't obama, he's just the hapless beneficiary of the miseducation and shallowness of our degenerated, celebrity worshiping culture--the whole of the "civilized" world's culture is in similar shape really.
it's less to do with knowledge of anything outside the u.s. as it is a lack of interest in, or knowledge of, things of substance requiring applied thought and logic in general.
the reason this brought obama voters to mind is as result of having seen several similar on-street survey vids taken prior, during, and post election, in which such knuckleheads were queried entirely on domestic matters, and asked why they voted, or were intending to vote, for obama. needless to say, hilarity ensued.
as to the chaser being australian, i'm quite surprised--i was sure he was a texan.
2Greg/ Agreed with the vacuous 'celebrity-worship' but re: America. I think it was best pointed out by a very good friend back when I lived in Amsterdam. She said that when she was being brought up in Texas, the news would have 60% Dallas news. 20% from the rest of Texas, a further 15% from the rest of America and the remaining 5% would be world news. Wherever i have lived in the world i have alwats known the major things that are happening in the US. Could you say the same about Australia e.g.? Seems to me to be a very insular society which doesn't handle 'foreigness' very well. I know a gross generalisation perhaps! Out of the choices you had, do you really wish that you had McCain & Palin in charge? Regards/
Mona - just thought I*d say hello again. That was funny - but a voxpop in UK would be no better, and a lot less literate/confident. Anyway, hope yr life in North Korea is hunky-d. Things here fine. simon ddddddd
yeah lots of fun can be had interviewing folks congregating for an obama rally, but they're really very nice people.
