Great Lake Swimmers - The Legion Sessions (Free Download)

While the city of Toronto was busy battling against the wind, snow and all around miserable conditions that keep residents firmly indoors as often as possible, the Great Lake Swimmers decided to hunker down to play in one of their country's most esteemed locations, a Royal Canadian Legion Pub. Soon dubbed "The Legion Sessions", GLS chose the hallowed local inn-which to capture live, many of the new songs from their album Lost Channels. The group enlisted the help of gifted young director Scott Cudmore to create a raw and intimate window into the subtle power of the group's sound. On board capturing the music resonating within these cozy surroundings was none other than Graham Walsh from the experimental electronic group Holy Fuck. Proceeds from the Tip Jar will be donated to Lake Ontario Waterkeeper www.waterkeeper.ca

John K - Weekend Pussy Hunt

This is every episode of John K's (Spumco's) groundbreaking flash serial, Weekend Pussy Hunt", originally shown in the late-nineties at Spumco.com. They're transferred from the 12 original SWF episodes and, for the first time, edited together as a complete cartoon (well, as complete as it gets). There are storyboards for the unfinished 13th episode available at Jim Smith's blog (Google it). It's a shame this cartoon was never completed. Story: George Liquor's new puppy is teased by a cat named Cigarettes. It's all innocent fun until it's revealed that George's dog is actually Dirty Dog, a maniacal non-stop killing machine. The story takes a twisted turn into a creepy film noir thriller similar to Night of the Hunter or Cape Fear. The story gets dark, real dark. ENJOY!

Norman Westberg's Brain

Several years ago I noticed a loss of hearing in my right ear and decided that it was high time that I had it checked out by a professional. The audiologist confirmed the uneven hearing loss and recommended an MRI. The purpose of the MRI was to make sure that there was not something other than my own aural misadventures causing the uneven loss. As I was checking out after the scan, the receptionist handed me a disc to give to my doctor. I went home and immediately plugged it into my computer and voila, over 100 scanned slices of my head.
Each of the 75 CDs in this limited edition is printed with one of these scans. No two are the same. Each CD is hand signed and numbered.
The track is a 15+ minute atmospheric guitar piece. I played my Telecaster into two amps with an array of delays and effects. Tracked onto a Porta 1 tape recorder, then manipulated in Sound Forge, 16bit, 44.1 Stereo Wave for the finish. This track is done as one pass.
This is homemade all the way.

Silent Sound

Silent Sound is an epic performance and installation project, first presented by A Foundation during the Liverpool Biennial in 2006.
It is a uniquely emotive experience which taps into the framework of Victorian public performance to explore the mind's susceptibility to subliminal suggestion.
The performance took place in the Small Concert Hall at St. George's Hall in Liverpool, where in 1865 The Davenport Brothers had performed their public seance act on the same stage. During Silent Sound the artists are seated inside a soundproof booth, inspired by the Davenport's 'Spirit Cabinet'. In unison, they repeat a secret phrase and using heir custom-made Silent Sound Machine this statement attempts to be subliminally embedded into a music recital. The original score for Silent Sound was composed by J. Spaceman (aka Jason Pierce from the band Spiritualized). The performance was introduced by parapsychologist Dr. Ciaran O'Keeffe.
Silent Sound was installed for Art Positions at Art Basel Miami Beach 2007 in a shipping container on the beach, and was described by the New York Times as "“one of the fair’s biggest word-of-mouth hits”.
