Daphne Camf R.I.P.
Sad news for the Melbourne music community
It was Black Cab main man Andrew Coates that introduced me to Daphne when she sang with Black Cab at the Espy quite a number of years ago. Again it was as they were playing around with versions of songs that would be featured on their Games of the XXI Olympiad album. I have it in my head that she sang on a long version of Supermädchen. I'm pretty certain I recorded that show but the audio will be sadly on a PC that still needs to be got up and running
Nowadays Live And Direct 002 - Underground Resistance
No introductions necessary for installment number two in our series of recordings from the booth. Enclosed is just under three hours of hard music from two members of UR that we were lucky enough to have come through at the end of March 2020.
The recording is split into two parts. The high-octane, acidic, psycho stuff in this section comes courtesy of Dex Nomadico, who played during the first half of the party. And the raw, thumping, soulful sounds in the other section are taken from the last hour or so of Mark Flash's set – just as daylight broke through.
Big respect and praise due to the whole UR family for letting us air these out and to all the dancers who gave this one their energy

Sounds Of The West - Straight Outa Bristol (Wild Bunch/Massive Attack/Tricky/Postishead)
TV documentary series originally aired in 1996, entitled "Sounds Of The West", which examined the music being produced in the West of England.
This particular episode named "Straight Outa Bristol" focused on the eponymous "Bristol Sound" and features interviews with DJ Milo (formally of The Wild Bunch), Massive Attack, Tricky and Portishead. Music journailist, Phil Johnson, who would go on to write a book on this same subject, also weighs in on his feelings regarding the impact that Bristol had on the rest of dance music at the time

I was once lucky enough to have the great Mr Minton vocalise with my wee combo. How did this happen?
Scene: Phil and I having a few pints at The Engineer's Arms in Camden 1981/2.
'What you doing next Saturday Phil?'
'Nothing'
'Well you are now...'
Worth the price of admission for his impersonation of Horlicks The Dog alone
