Gawker’s Nick Denton says Gizmodo made no direct revenue from leaked iPhone post

Since Gizmodo penetrated Apple’s impenetrable fortress and posted videos and pictures of a not-yet-released iPhone earlier this week, the post has received 7,861,004 views, made it to the front page of Digg, been linked to by thousands of blogs, and retweeted over 30,000 times. A follow-up post detailing how the iPhone prototype had been lost received over 2 million views and saw similar ubiquitous coverage. Given that Gawker Media charges about $10 CPM, then one would think the media company raked in somewhere to the tune of $100,000 in advertising, making the $5,000 Gawker-owner Nick Denton reportedly paid to get his hands on the found (stolen?) iPhone well worth it.
But at a recent Paid Content event, Denton said that the scoop brought “”no immediate revenue benefits whatsoever,” and that instead it garnered “hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of publicity for the site.”
After reading this I emailed Denton asking him to confirm the no-direct-revenue claim and explain why the high page views didn’t result in more advertising dough...

Who really won?

For Fox Sake # ? - Murdoch you really are such scum

ITV panel giving it to Brown 47. Clegg 42. Cameron 12 C4 giving it to Clegg over Brown #leadersdebateYougov are claiming that Cameron won the debate. 100 fairies at the bottom of the garden surveyed. #LeadersDebate
Sky News poll claiming Cameron won the debate. This is the day Sky News became Fox News
YouGov Poll: Earth round 23% Earth flat 64% Earth other-shaped 13% #LeadersDebate
Just got hold of the YouGov survey question: "Did Cameron win the debate or are you a paedophile?"

Bloody Liverpool!!!
Steven Gerrard and Rafael Benitez at Runcorn station

First impressions...

Clegg's opening statement was fugn impressive...Brown sounded the same as ever and Cameron playing up to the Johnny Britisher brigade while promising 'change', 'change' and yet more 'change'...'us the people' David? You are not one of 'us'!
Clegg is fugn brilliant with his 'nutters, anti semite, homophobe and climate change deniers' remark and the way he mentions the 'illegal invasion' of Iraq... Brown saying that he feels that there is a winnable solution to Afghanistan...hmmmm!
Cameron brings it back to how it affects the UK...
Second time Brown has mentioned Al Qaeda in Somalia and Yemen...Cameron, sorry the Pashtuns are NOT really only found in the south of Afghanistan...got a feeling that you couldn't find Scunthorpe on a map of the UK...
...please go there as the photo op of  'who put the cunt in Scunthorpe' wld be irresistable!
Brown keeps mentioning Clegg's 'anti-Americanism'
Now here is a good question about the Pope's visit...
You don't agree with the Pope's views on homosexuality Cameron (seriously?)
Clegg brings up his aethism again (good man!)
All agree that the Pope's  visit should take place...
Here we go again...Cameron almost said gender, but brings up science but doesn't bring up homosexuality, Clegg does tho (that will probably bring Andrew Sullivan to orgasm I wld imagine)...Brown has no problem mentioning the 'H' word either...
OK! I am completely cream crackered...going to listen to this in bed...
half way thru and Clegg has won it already I think.
Who would have thought that LibDems cld be in this position...
Clegg's point that the old parties have let everyone down I could imagine having a lot of people nodding their heads in agreement.
Cameron doesn't sound at all convincing to me that he is different than the old Tories (but yes I am biased!)
Brown talking about cleaning up the politicians and the parties is a little bit too late now...
Brown attacks Cameron's tax policies and how the rich will be better off...
Cameron is so good at repeating what the others have just said...
Brown's 'women and you are one of them' was very unfortunate...
and whar was Cameron's making up new policy on eye glasses and prescriptions about...been costed Dave?
Or doesn't matter as you are your rich friends won't be paying just the 'oiks' as usual...
Anyway laterz/
PS - Just had a quick look at Andrew Sullivan's live blog...well yes there was definitely a dribble re Clegg's support of gay-rights but he still gushes over Cameron (so to speak)...

Another win for Clegg I think!

Fuck-Yoo! (Thanx Fifi)

Mama, my ass is on fire!

I won't give you no potty mouth - the softness of recycled toilet paper is one subject we should all take very seriously.

The paperless, global economy may have an unexpected downside for your backside: The reduction of high-quality white paper use may hurt the quality of the recycled toilet paper made from it.

Printer and copier paper retain the nice, long fibers that make the best recycled toilet paper. But a resurgent Chinese economy and domestic waste reduction efforts are cutting the available supply of the good stuff, said Jeff Phillips, executive vice president of operations at Seventh Generation, a major recycled toilet paper manufacturer.

“The cost of office waste paper has skyrocketed (more than doubled) in the last six months primarily as a result of China re-entering the market,” Phillips wrote in an e-mail to Wired.com. “There has [also] been a reduction in availability due to more offices trying to reduce paper consumption and through the use of electronic media.”
