As the parties of the century draw near and you really wish that you'd set off swimming in plenty of time to get back to the UK I thought I'd put a mix together of TACK>>HEAD tracks released under drummer Keith LeBlanc's name. All these sounds are what 30-35 years old and still like they come from the future...and then the bassie (the man who turned down joining the Stones to stay with Living Colour remember) says he likes the mix
DON'T SCRIMP ON THE DECIBELS
It even got a like from Doug Wimbish
And boy do I wish I could get one of these posters
Talking of Mr Wimbish, here's a Living Colour VS On-U Sound mix I put together about 6 months ago
Tracklist:
Hemp (ft Andy Fairley) / Visions (Adrian Sherwood Production) / Bless Those (Little Annie cover) / Auslander (Dub Länder Remix by Sherwood and Skip McDonald ft David Harrow's programming) / Choices Mash Up (Cover of Audio Active's Happy Shopper) / These Are Happy Times (Sherwood Production) / Release The Pressure (Sherwood Production with Mark Stewart co-writing credit) / Who Shot Ya? (Adrian Sherwood & Matt Smyth Remix) / Sacred Ground (Sherwood Production with Mark Stewart co-writing credit) / Sunshine of Your Love (Sherwood & McDonald Remix)Tuesday, 5 April 2022

Mr Simon says...
+It just occurred to me that when I resigned from the Television Arts & Sciences Academy years ago I didn’t bother to slap anyone first, which I now have to concede is another of life’s missed opportunities.

Reimagining Loneliness: In Conversation with Iain Sinclair and Chris Petit
I was sending a message to Adam of the Bagging Area parish and while chewcking up the details of Peter Whitehead's Wholly Communion film I found that Chris Petit & Iain Sinclair's The Falconer film, which also has the added bonus of featuring Dave McKean's special effects and animation, had been uploaded online. Return of the Reforgotten
Stewart Home - Shamen of Discontent or The Revenge of The Mirror People: A Detective Story In Four Acts
Man I have been waiting to see this for SO long and then also realised that the complete trilogy can now be viewed.
Where to start?
Well when I first moved to London in 77/8 I was soon buying books with alarming regularity from Iain Sinclair's stall down in Islington's Camden Passage. I'd been introduced to him by Mike Hart, who had let me crash with him and his kid Stephen at their place in Wood Green until I got myself sorted out in the Big Smoke.
When I first saw Radio On I wasn't all that impressed to be honest and then I remembered that all the people telling me to see it were the same ones that had recommended Eraserhead to me the previous year. (I love Chris's novels tho). Dave McKean? Well...he's been on the blog a few times
So many boxes are ticked. Interesting that some of the links above redirect to the very early days of Exile. And the cast? Well I knew a fair few of them back in my London days...anyway enjoy the films as much as I did.
You never know you might get a few a few curiosities piqued...
