Empire at the End of Decadence

  1. I was thinking the other day, while listening to the US State of the Union Address, that we are past the time for "lofty" Kennedy-esque speeches. I don't want to hear any more bullshit about the wisdom of the founding fathers and how America is the defender of the oppressed and poor huddled masses "yearning to breathe free." America is the home of multinational corporations who are protected by the full force of the American military and its conventional and nuclear power while they dismantle social programs, redistribute wealth to the most ethically challenged, parasitic agents of capitalism. "Freedom, freedom," you hear repeated over and over. Freedom for what, I ask? Freedom to not give a shit about human rights? Freedom to not care about charging a 385% rate on a payday loan to a guy who just had his job exported to India for pennies on the dollar? I just don't see it. There are students in US schools who aren't getting adequate language skills, let alone advanced math or science. But who gives a shit, cause they live in neighborhoods with a median income of less than $18,000 per household per year. It sure doesn't affect the politician's son, whose going to a nice, well-funded prep school and getting ready for that full-ride lacrosse scholarship to Harvard. Nope. This country needs to wipe the sleep out of its eyes, back away from this Hollywood-esque myth making from the Gipper and Fox News and the like, and take a hard look at what the elites have allowed to happen in this country while they keep us split on issues like abortion and prayer in school and all that other trivial bullshit. YES! IT'S TRIVIAL BULLSHIT, and I still see it happening. The poor and the other poor, duking it out over semantic bullshit, while the global minded businessmen waltz all the way to the bank in their $3800 Armani suits. FUCK YOU, AMERICAN SLEEPWALKERS!!! The culture war is a ruse! Your kids can't even express their thoughts in an essay, let alone articulate a path out of the corrupt global machinery. It's just so fucking tangled up, and no-one seems to have the ability to unravel any of it.
