I've been aware of Jaron Lanier for quite a while (since the Mondo 2000 days of the early 90s), but it seems that he's really evolved into an insightful, highly articulate analyst of the on-line universe. This article really gets at this dichotomy of the technocracy between their lofty proposed ideals and the often less savory implications of their ego-centric views. Great link!
Also, Mona, I think you were pretty on the money with your comment the other day about potential Aspergers. I think this quote fits with that: "Assange sees information as an abstract free-standing thing. Differences in perspective and circumstance mean nothing. This is how nerd supremacists think."
