The history of warfare is similarly subdivided, although here the phases
are Retribution, Anticipation, and Diplomacy. Thus:
Retribution:
I'm going to kill you because you killed my brother.
Anticipation:
I'm going to kill you because I killed your brother.
Diplomacy:
I'm going to kill my brother and then kill you on the
pretext that your brother did it.
At the cache of Assange's blog 'IQ' (2006/7)
hadn't seen this blog before. this is a very interesting window into assange's motivations and psychology. obviously a bright guy, but i do sense some conflicting motives here that complicate my feelings towards what he's doing with wikileaks. the fact alone that he is this charismatic public face of what is ostensibly a neutral NGO creates some dissonance in their mission.

ReplyDeleteIt's a VERY interesting site...I got completely lost in there t/day...what comes across also is his sense of invinciblity and lack of empathy I think too. Asbergers at the very least...This is an interesting read.

indeed! very interesting post on the corporate "state" in contrast to the nation-state. the issue of corporate rights and responsibilities, i believe, is one of the most pressing issues of our generation, especially as centralization of power/wealth continues at such a quick pace. it's funny to think now, that in 1989, capitalism thought it had "won" the (cold) war against communism. nothing of the sort happened at all. look at all the financial crises of the last 10 or 15 years. and now the US economy has stalled at ~10% unemployment? we need to realize that corporations cannot create a livable society without a solid infrastructure of human rights/services. we can't even offer poor people in this country free medical care! WTF?!
