Show the little upstarts how it's done guys!!!
At the beginning of this last clip there is an old boss of mine Simon Raymonde behind Sandie Shaw (to the left) probably better known to most of you as one third of the Cocteau Twins!!!
(Thanx JC!)

i kind of dig the vibe on that last track, but i wish i liked grinderman more. nick cave is ace, and the birthday party was one of the greatest "rock" bands to ever grace our presence here on earth, but grinderman just seems like a pop-ified parody of the earlier stuff. plus, beards! i just don't feel the energy from these guys. it's missing something *explosive* somehow. it just taxis around the runway but never gets off the ground. mona: what did you used to do for simon? he was the solid anchor of the cocteau twins, in my opinion. and will heggie left some pretty big shoes to fill. the garlands bass parts were massive!

ReplyDeleteWe both worked at 'Our Price Records' in Tottenham Court Road where he was the store manager back in the early 80's. Corporate type shop where I couldn't work long having to get back to the indie sector!!!

I dig old Nick Cave but this stuff just doesn't make it. Old men hanging on. Let it go.
