John Martyn - Anna
For a bit of the history behind this - one of John Martyn's more obscure tracks go here.
PS: I could be wrong but I think there was also another version of this released as a 7" by John Steven's 'Away'...needless to say if anyone has more info or indeed a copy could they get in touch. Thanx!
(And for very obvious reasons this is dedicated to the Spaceboy's mum!)

  1. Thanks for this, never realised that Anna was actually released, and the thought of Robert Smith doing Small Hours is a very intriguing one indeed. Only just stumbled upon this blog, and I loves it! It is preventing me from doing any work, mind you. Not a problem as far as I'm concerned, but the people who pay my wages might not be too chuffed. Keep up the good work!

  3. The John Stevens Away single was called Annie parts 1 & 2 (a and b sides of the 45) written by Stevens but sung by Martyn. It was released on Vertigo. I have a cassette with part 1 on somewhere. I'll have to try to find it now :)

Unfortunately the end result of the tribute album is pretty dire imho. There is one version of Annie on JM's box set 'Ain't No Saint'.
Not at all sure if is the Away version or the same one as in the Australian film. Obvs John Stevens was a regular member of JM's band back in the day too (see 'Live At Leeds'...
