Agnes Richter’s embroidered straightjacket

Agnes Richter was a German seamstress held as a patient in an insane asylum during the 1890s. During her time there, she densely embroidered her straightjacket with words, undecipherable phrases and drawings which documented her thoughts and feelings throughout her time there. This remarkable object was collected by Hans Prinzhorn, a psychiatrist who ardently collected the artwork of his patients at a Heidelberg psychiatric hospital in the early 20th century...

Single typewritten page from The Shining, filled with the repeated phrase “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” This particular page with its zig-zag pattern was not seen on-screen in the film, but was part of the stack that Wendy flips through.
The prop box of yellow typing paper is located in the Stanley Kubrick Archive in London. About one-third of the stack was manually typed; the remainder was photocopied. There are also additional boxes in other languages.
