Appeals Court Rejects California's Proposition 8

“A federal appeals court ruled against California's voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage Tuesday, arguing the ban unconstitutionally singles out gays and lesbians for discrimination.
“In a split decision, a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found the state's Proposition 8 ‘works a meaningful harm to gays and lesbians’ by denying their right to civil marriage in violation of the 14th Amendment. Supporters of same-sex marriages cheered the decision when it was announced outside the courthouse Tuesday morning.”

Lichtfestival Ghent 2012

The second edition of the spectacular Ghent Light Festival held in Belgium, for four days (from January 26 to January 29, 2012), displayed quite a few interesting projects. This year’s themes were happiness and music, portrayed in over 30 unique exhibitions. But the focal point of the event is said to have been a giant art installation shaped like a cathedral and made from no less than 55.000 LED lights. According to the official website of the festival, “Belfortstraat (Belfort Street) was the domain of the Luminarie Cagna. A giant colonnade made of wood and hundreds of thousands of colored lights, with arches that remind one of Romanesque and Renaissance architecture. The entrance area only measured 28 meters high. The audience walked into a fairy tale gallery, surrounded by light and color. Energy Wasted? On the contrary, this immense work of art with 55,000 LED lights consumes only 20Kwatt / h of electricity“. Motor City's Burning - Detroit from Motown to The Stooges (2008)

Documentary looking at how Detroit became home to a musical revolution that captured the sound of a nation in upheaval.
In the early 60s, Motown transcended Detroit's inner city to take black music to a white audience, whilst in the late 60s suburban kids like the MC5 and the Stooges descended into the black inner city to create revolutionary rock expressing the rage of young white America.

"Da Da Da I Don't Love You You Don't Love Me Aha Aha Aha" (usually shortened to just "Da Da Da") was an international hit record for German band Trio (sometimes written TRIO) formed in 1980 by Stephan Remmler, Gert 'Kralle' Krawinkel, and Peter Behrens. "Da Da Da" released in 1982 was a hit in Germany and about 30 countries worldwide and sold 3 million copies. The lyrics were written by Stephan Remmler, and the music by Gert 'Kralle' Krawinkel. "Da Da Da" remains their biggest German hit and their only hit outside Germany, taken from their debut album Trio released in 1982. Trio disbanded in 1984.
