My album(s) of the decade


So much great music in the past decade but I cannot choose between these two so both are #1!

Just the right amound of pop and noise!

    Choosing best two, wow...
    I can hardly set my mind on ten...
    but 'Rings Around the World' is also in my top ten because it takes out the fun side of pop-rock in a very unique and original way.

    No I do not have the 'Blemish' Japanese bonus track
    is it good?
    I like 'Blemish' more then 'Manafon' because 'Blemish' is more personal (kind of break-up album) then Buddhist-bleak 'Manafon'
    what is your take?

    'Blemish' is also in my top-ten

    You can make up your own mind here, sorry can't do FLAC this time around but it is @320. I think with Sylvian you really have to take each album as a seperate entity. I agree that Blemish is a high level mark in his career. Have you checked out my other blog (son of) as I have put up Derek Bailey's Blemish sessions album and also Sylvian's 'When Loud Weather Buffeted Naoshima'
    Anyway have a good one...

    I actually know this track (as 'Trauma Therapy')
    and thought it is (along with 'Monolith' freebie) a 'Campure' bonus
    interesting track...

    'Naoshima' is not for the weak at heard 'coz it can broad you the death [but i like it when i am in the mood]

    Next on my top-ten is Kate Bush - 'Aerial' , I hope you know this one

    the E.P. of the decade is Omar A. Rodriguez & Damo Suzuki - 'Please Heat This Eventually'
    in which for the first time since Can-days Damo rules

    Indeed I do know that KateB album. Funny I HATED 'Wuthering Heights' but love absolutely everything else that she has done. Aaaah Damo! I am a massive Can fan...did youget the w/Tim Hrdin trax I posted? Expect a lot more Cn related rarities at (Son of) next year.
    May 2010 be a great one for us all - 2009 was a bad year I think andnot just for me...

    As a teenager I had KB 'the dreaming' poster hang on my wall , I love every single note she ever done.
    I did get Tim Hardin & Can ffrom (Son of) along with last Damo & Can gig , both are good,I am also a big can-head would love some more rarities

    my next top-ten is Julian Cope - 'The Unruly Imagination' - folk/political and krout-Faust-bound on the same LP ... truly excellent
    Do you have the two spoken-word tracks Sylvian did with Arve Henriksen on his ECM 'Cartography' LP ?

    We seem to have some very serious overlap of taste in music happening here. If you go right back to the very beginning of this blog, I posted a live Teardrop Explodes gig from Erics in Liverpool.

    Well, overlap is a good thing...
    next on my top-ten is Van Der Graaf Generator - Persent what should i say: the old geezers know how to make a comeback album! (a reativly short in length but dense and leave a taste of dark-matter in my mouth )

    Bloody hell...another fave and let us not forget Hammill's solo stuff over the years. Nadirs Big Chance is one of the first English punk records I think!

    Overlap Strikes back:
    Nadirs Big Chance along with VDGG live 'Vital' LP makes the impossible gap between prog-rock to punk (I must admit that I haven't realized the Hammill/Jonny until I read it in Mr. Julian Cope monthly blog)
    my next top-tenner is Ian Brown - music from the Spheres - best rock/electronic combo sophisticated yet pop-ish with Ian very unique angelic voice

    A slight divergence there as I have never heard that Ian Brown album, but I will check it out. Was more into the Happy Mondays than the Stone Roses and could not believe how bad that second album was...

    Before I replayed about prog-rock to punk connection and how Julian Cope showed me the 'the Hammill/Jonny' i meant of course to the Johnny Rotten admiration to Peter Hammill back in Nadir days..
    My next top-tenner is Robert Wyatt - Comicopera
    Jazzy,smooth music yet strong in words and not all in English...
