Compassion?

The more often Americans go to church, the more likely they are to support the torture of suspected terrorists, according to a new survey.
Story at 'CNN' here.

Do endless representations of the crucifixion desenitise the faithfull to cruelty to others?

  1. A new low, Mona. As with most of your posted impressions of the U S this is disgusting and 180 degrees out of phase with reality. You're giving "down under" a new an unflattering meaning.

You never noticed the link between believers and self righteousness then have you. Not all of them but...

  3. What has this got to do with "self-righteousness? I am seeing plenty of it in your incredibly cynical analysis, however. Self-righteousness can be found anywhere, including in the branch of atheism that is obsessed with religion--especially Judaism and Christianity.

Self-righteousness (also called sententiousness) is a feeling of smug moral superiority derived from a sense that one's beliefs, actions, or affiliations are of greater virtue than those of the average person.

And of course you are right but we are specifically talking about torture vis-a-vis the US & believers...remember?
